  1. Kia ora Dartanian,

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey programme for 2016-2017. It is great to see that you have chosen to blog with us and that you have selected such an interesting country. Mexico is a fascinating place to visit. They have food that is completely different from New Zealand and speak entirely different languages (eg. Yucatec Maya and Spanish).

I, personally, love Mexican food and wish that we had more Mexican restaurants here in New Zealand. I am particularly fond of nachos, tacos, fajitas and quesadillas. Yum!

Have you ever tried Mexican food?

I hope that you will continue to blog with us this summer. It's a great way to maintain your learning and to be in to win some very cool prizes.

    Cheers,
    Rachel

  2. Hola Dartanian,
My name is Tania and I am a Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitator - I work in lots of different schools with teachers and learners who, like you, are using chromebooks for their learning and blogs to share their learning. I have been emailing with Rachel and she has told me all about The Summer Learning Journey, I am enjoying checking out some blogposts and reading about your learning. Sounds like Mexico will be a great country to learn about. I wonder how much peso you will need to enjoy your time there. Keep up the great researching, reading, writing, creating and sharing. Enjoy your summer holiday.

  3. HOLA Dartanian!

I'm Mark, a teacher working for the Summer Learning Journey these holidays. It is awesome to see you starting up your journey here on your blog site.

It is great to hear you are interested in the language of the Mexican people, as you know - language is a very important part of a peoples culture. It is also interesting that you are interested because of the size of the population. Because Mexico is a mix of developed and undeveloped country, the size of the population creates a lot of different issues for the people.

I hope you continue to make connections and get really into this. Mexico is amazing. Have you heard of the Mayans? They were an ancient and highly advanced civilization. They were also in Mexico before the Spanish came, but disappeared mysteriously. Their temples and pyramids were found later on, buried in the jungles of Mexico under dense bush.

It'll be so cool to find out more and see what you can discover. Just last year a student found a new temple on google earth!! Can you believe it?
